Rams stop Sentinels, 58-39

OAKLAND - Southern's defensive pressure led to Fort Hill turnovers that the Rams converted into points, advancing them to the Maryland 1A West Region West Section final on Wednesday.

Southern, seeded second, will face the top-seeded Allegany Campers on Wednesday, 7 p.m., in Cumberland. The Rams improve to 18-4, and have won six straight.

Shayna Sweitzer led Southern's offense with 17 points, and added six rebounds. Torie Bosley sunk four three-pointers on her way to 14 points, and Brittany Boyce scored 10.

After taking a 11-4 lead in the first quarter, Southern took a 29-16 lead into halftime. The score going into the fourth quarter was 48-26.

Fort Hill, the third seed in the section, was led by Andrea Armstrong's 14 points.

After upsetting Mountain Ridge to get to the sectional semifinals, the Sentinels will finish its season 5-17.
