RIDGELEY, W.Va. — Glavis P. Summerfield, 69, of Ridgeley, W.Va., passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at the WMHS Braddock Campus.

Born March 31, 1940, in Dry Fork, W. VA., he was the son of the late Oscar and Rachel (Davis) Summerfield. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Gwendolyn Aman.

Mr. Summerfield was retired from PPG and Blind Industries. He was a United States Marine veteran and was Brethren by faith.

Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Ruth (McKenney) Summerfield; three sons, Kevin P. Summerfield, Cumberland, Terry A. Summerfield and wife Pam, Bunker Hill and Christopher M. Summerfield and wife Betty, Augusta; one daughter, Tina M. Yoder and husband Steve, LaVale; two sisters, Dorothy Smith and husband Ronald “Bud,” Rawlings and Barbara Terrill and husband Steve, Cresaptown; three grandchildren, Alicia Summerfield, Brittany Bean and Tommy Yoder; and his dog, Killer.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, scarpellifuneralhomes.com on Friday from 1 to 3:30 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 3:30 p.m. with Rev. Wayne R. Turner officiating.

At his request his body will be cremated.
