CUMBERLAND — Glenn J. Rice, 60, of Cumberland, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2009, at his residence.

Born Oct. 29, 1948, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Gay E. Rice. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Judy Ann Rice in 2007.

Mr. Rice was retired from the Cumberland Eagles as a bartender. He was a United States Army veteran of Vietnam where he received a Bronze Star Medal. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and he graduated from LaSalle High School in 1966. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Goodfellowship Club, the Outdoor Club, the Veterans of Vietnam Chapter 172 and the Cumberland American Legion.

Surviving are his son, Glenn J. Rice Jr. and wife Carli, Cresaptown; one grandson, Owen N. Rice, Cresaptown; and one stepgranddaughter, Jaden M. Bishop, Cresaptown.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Monday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Tuesday at 9 a.m. with Father Ty S. Hullinger as celebrant.

Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Wrachford, Bobby Kelley, Gus Bell, Danny Rhodes and Carl Ryan.

Military honors will be accorded by the Veterans of Vietnam Chapter 172.
