Car Crash

Three people were injured in this 11:54 p.m. head-on collision Friday on Winchester Road in LaVale. According to the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office, one vehicle was on fire and the other was in danger of catching fire when deputies arrived. Off-duty Cumberland Police Officer Wil Pinder and a passing motorist, Kevin Trezise, freed one of the motorists whose seat belt was stuck and removed him to safety. Two other vehicle occupants managed to get free prior to their vehicle bursting into flames. Deputies shut down Winchester Road while Cresaptown fire and rescue personnel extinguished the fire and treated the injured. The injured were transported to Cumberland Memorial Hospital for treatment. Names of the victims were not released due to the ongoing investigation by Deputy Gary Crowe and Deputy Chris Miller. Officers said alcohol and drugs were located in one vehicle and are believed to be a contributing factor.
