East Hardy splits with Pocahontas, 10-0 and 5-7

BAKER - East Hardy hit three home runs as the Cougars took the first game of a doubleheader with Pocahontas 10-0, but struggled in the second as the teams spilt Tuesday night.
Dakota Hoover, Dane Biller and Kolby Foltz all went deep and East Hardy needed only five innings to win the first game. Hoover and Foltz homered during a six-run third inning with Hoover's scoring three and Foltz's two. Foltz would add a single.
Biller hit a solo home run and an RBI double, and Chris Kerr was 2-for-2 with two runs scored.
Jacob Bowman had eight strikeouts and allowed two hits in four innings to earn the victory.
Pocahontas took a 3-1 lead after the first inning of the second game, and East Hardy had a rally snuffed out in the ninth to lose 7-5.
Mark Williamson hit a three-run double in the sixth for Pocahontas and Derek Skidmore clubbed a solo homer. Nick Irvine finished with two singles.
William Whetzel doubled once and singled twice for the Cougars, and Jacob Bowman added an RBI double. Tyler Brill had 12 strikeouts and one walk, but was saddled with the loss.
East Hardy scored once and had two runners on when the final out was made in the bottom of the seventh.
East Hardy (12-5) will play Keyser at home tonight at 7 p.m.
