FISHERTOWN, Pa. - Hyndman erupted for six runs in the sixth inning but a poor defensive game and a strong relief effort by Anthony Gardill helped Chestnut Ridge rally for a victory.
Hyndman, which outhit Chestnut Ridge 10-6, batted around in the second inning, which featured RBI singles by Bobby Deneen, Caleb Stair, Jesse Minnick and Jeff Crosten that gave the Hornets a 6-1 lead.
But seven Hyndman errors led to six unearned runs for Ridge, which tied the game in the fifth and went ahead with a two-run sixth.
Gardill, who relieved in the third, allowed only one run and struck out eight to get the win.
Deneen finished with a double, single and two RBIs, Crosten had two singles and two RBIs and Zach Logsdon two singles for Hyndman. Caleb Stair and Josh Stair had RBI singles.
Wes Stoudemour, Denny Whitcomb and Brennan Corley had RBI singles for Chestnut Ridge.
Hyndman (2-6) visits Tussey Mountain today.
