FRANKLIN - Three Pendleton pitchers combined to allow no earned runs as the Wildcats swept Tygarts Valley Wednesday, needing only 10 innings to take two from its Potomac Valley Conference foe.
Brandon Raines allowed two singles and struck out five to earn the victory during the first game, while Colin Mitchell and David Bowers combined for 11 strikeouts and two hits in the second.
Josh Godfrey led the fourth-ranked Wildcats in the opener with three runs batted in on a double and a single, and Trey Linaburg had two singles, one of them a two-run hit. Phil Weimer had an RBI double, and Brett Raines hit a two-run single.
Kyle Puffinbarger paced the offense in the second game by going 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs. Brandon Raines also had two doubles and a single, and Brett Raines had two singles and two runs scored. Mitchell doubled, singled and knocked in one.
The wins make Pendleton 8-3 in the PVC and 14-7 overall. The team hosts Philip Barbour at 6:30 on Friday.
