Raines leads Pendleton County past Philip Barbour

Brandon Raines went 4-for-4 to lead Pendleton County past visiting Philip Barbour.

Raines set the tone by leading off the bottom of the first with a home run, and later hit two doubles and a single.

Kyle Puffinbarger hit a double and a single, Trey Linaburg hit two singles and Brett Raines smacked a two-run single.

Philip Barbour’s Larry Plum hit a two-run double in the seventh to cut the Wildcats lead in half.

Pendleton pitchers Linaburg and David Bowers combined for seven strikeouts and a five-hitter.

Philip Barbour, a Class AA, sits atop the West Virginia Big Ten Conference, which also includes Lincoln, Robert C. Byrd, Bridgeport, Grafton, Liberty and Lewis County.

Pendleton (15-7) will host Harman today at noon.
