No. 1 Northern shuts out Bishop Walsh, 10-0

CUMBERLAND - Matt Sisler and Trey Beasom combined on a four-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts, and top-ranked Northern struck for nine runs in its final three at-bats in a victory over Bishop Walsh at Al Martin Field.

The win moves coach Phil Carr's Huskies to 13-1. They will host Salisbury today.

Sisler got the win by throwing the first six innings and striking out eight. Beasom worked the seventh and fanned two.

Northern led 1-0 until scoring three times in the fifth inning. The Huskies blew the game open with a four-run sixth and added a final run in the seventh.

Justin Rosenberger smacked two doubles and Sisler, Beasom and Jeff Smith had two singles among 10 Northern hits.

Ray Miller doubled and Chandler Tomlinson singled twice for Bishop Walsh (7-11).

The Spartans will play again Saturday, with two games scheduled. First, they will host Trinity at noon. At 3 p.m., the Spartans face Allegany in a game that will determine the City League championship. The site of that game, which will be either Allegany or BW, has yet to be determined.
