Petersburg takes out Keyser, 12-4

From Staff Reports
Cumberland Times-News

KEYSER, W.Va. - Petersburg avalanched eight runs onto Keyser during the late innings of their first-round playoff contest to end the Golden Tornado's season Tuesday.

The Vikings (13-16) won 12-4, and with a 9-5 win over Keyser on Monday are the West Virginia Class AA Region 2, Section 2 champions. They won't play another playoff game until May 19 when they would face the winner of the Frankfort-Berkeley Springs series.

Ronnie Loy had a 4-for-4 day with a double and three runs batted in, and Jamie Rohrbaugh finished with two hits, including a double, and one RBI. Matt Porter had two RBIs with one single.

Chase Feaster entered the game with one out in the first after Petersburg had allowed three runs to Keyser. He would allow only one more run as he finished out.

Tyler Rohrbaugh had a double, single and two runs batted in for Keyser. Colton Jones had two singles, and Tommy Stark had one with a RBI.

"They took advantage of their opportunities and we didn't," said Keyser coach Scott Rohrbaugh. "Our seven errors didn't help either. Their second pitcher, Chase Feaster came in and shut us down over four innings. He really did a good job."

Keyser finishes the season 11-16 and 5-5 in the Appalachian Mountain Athletic Conference.
