Bishop Walsh beats Southern, 5-3

CUMBERLAND - Payne Turner homered leading off the third inning, and Bishop Walsh scored three times in the fifth to take a 5-3 lead and beat Southern by the same score Wednesday at Al Martin Field.
Aaron O'Rourke pitched all seven innings to earn the win, and forced 12 fly-ball outs. He finished with only three strikeouts, but allowed only six hits.
Chandler Tomlinson had a double and a single for the Spartans, and Eric Diamond hit one double. Zac Hare finished the day with a couple of singles.
Cody Parsons hit a home run with no one on in the fourth inning for Southern's only extra-base hit. He would also hit a single.
Jonathan Cullen hit a two-run double during the fifth inning, and scored on a fielder's choice by Conner O'Rourke.
BW (10-12) plays Monday against St. Maria Goretti in its final regular season game of the year. Southern ends the regular season (10-7) and will play in the West Region playoffs on Friday when it hosts Mountain Ridge.
