Frankfort evens up regional

SHORT GAP, W.Va. - Frankfort's Patrick Marchetti came through with a bases-loaded single in the bottom of the seventh inning to even the best-of-three regional playoff series with a 10-9 win over Berkeley Springs Tuesday at Frankfort.
The Falcons and Indians combined for 19 hits and 26 hits one day after the two combined for three runs and two hits. Berkeley Springs won game one, 3-0, on Tuesday behind a no-hitter from Mike Twigg.
On Wednesday, the two teams traded a single run in the third and Frankfort took a 3-1 lead after four. The Indians took a small lead with three more runs in the fifth, but the Falcons scored four times in the home half and never tailed for the rest of the evening.
Marchetti finished the contest with two hits, and Travis Meyers had two singles and an RBI. Jeff Conley and Corey Weaver had a hit and two runs scored, and Dan Alkire scored twice and drove in two more with a double and a single. Ryan Shields added a RBI double.
Griffith had a double and two singles with two RBIs for Berkeley. Thomas, Camponelli, Twigg and Reddick all had two singles.
Frankfort (8-13) plays the rubber match today, 4:30 p.m., at Berkeley Springs.
