OAKLAND - Keyser scored five times in the top of the seventh inning to erase a 7-5 deficit and defeat Southern, 10-7, in an Appalachian Mountain Athletic Conference game.
The Golden Tornado pieced together four hits and a walk in the inning, and took advantage of a pair of Southern errors as Kelsey Bacon singled in two runs in the inning, with Alicia Cuthbertson singling in one. Brooke Mangold and Kayla Aldridge both had a pair of singles.
For Southern, Lindsey Glotfelty hit two singles and a double.
Southern took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first, then made it 6-2 with four in the bottom of the second. The Tornado, however, scored two in the fourth and one in the fifth, the fifth-inning run being offset by the Rams' single run in the bottom half of the inning. Then in the top of the seventh, Keyser put the game away with the five-run rally.
Keyser (5-11 overall, 4-5 AMAC) will host Bishop Walsh today. Southern (3-4, 1-4) will play today, 4:30 p.m., at Northern.
