Keyser beats BW, 11-2

KEYSER, W.Va. - Keyser had a six-run first inning and held an 8-0 lead before allowing a run Wednesday in its nine-run win over visiting Bishop Walsh.

The Golden Tornado collected nine hits with Brandi Braithwaite getting four runs batted in on a pair of singles. Alicia Cuthbertson hit two doubles, a single and drove in a run, and Shannon Paugh had two RBIs on a double.

The Spartans were led at the plate by Taylor Butts, who had a double, a single and an RBI. Claire Nolan and Anne Mathews each had a double.

Bishop Walsh scored both of its runs during the fifth inning.

Katelyn Ray had four walks and three strikeouts in the win, while Rochelle Wolford finished with two strikeouts and one walk, but hit four batters.

Keyser (6-11) plays Frankfort Friday at 2 p.m. in the Bub Riggleman Tournament in Moorefield. Bishop Walsh (3-7) plays Allegany at home today.
