Alco rips BW, 16-3

CUMBERLAND - Beth Szymanski had four hits and two runs batted in, and Hayley Stankan tossed a four-hitter and struck out 14 to lead second-ranked Allegany to a 16-3 win over Bishop Walsh Thursday afternoon at Cavanaugh Field.
The win makes Allegany 8-1 overall and 1-1 in the City League. Bishop Walsh fell to 3-7 and 0-3.
The Campers led by only 5-1 after five innings, then erupted for five runs in the sixth and six runs in the seventh to blow the game open.
Hilary Lyons and Haylie Harper tripled and singled, and Erin Hansel singled twice for Allegany. Stankan walked only one in the complete-game win.
Anne Mathews tripled and singled for Bishop Walsh.
The Spartans play at Hancock on Saturday at noon. Allegany will host Frankfort on Monday at 4:30 at Carl Belt Field.
