Bishop Walsh edges Maryland Deaf, 6-5

CUMBERLAND - Bishop Walsh rallied from a four-run deficit to defeat Maryland School for the Deaf Tuesday afternoon at Cavanaugh Field.
Maryland Deaf led 4-0 after an inning and a half before the Spartans scored one in the second, two each in the third and fourth innings and one in the fifth.
Maryland Deaf, however, pulled to within one in the top of the seventh and had the tying run on third base with one out before Rochelle Wolford got the final two outs for the complete-game victory. She finished with five strikeouts while allowing seven hits.
Anne and Abbie Mathews were the Spartans leading hitters. Both had a double and a single. Abbie Mathews had two RBIs. Claire Nolan had an RBI double.
Maryland Deaf wa led by Hedigen's two hits and two RBIs.
Bishop Walsh (5-7) hosts Turkeyfoot Monday for a 3 p.m. doubleheader.
