FROSTBURG - Keri Bean tossed a four-hit shutout as third-ranked Mountain Ridge needed only five innings to beat Hampshire in Appalachian Mountain Athletic Conference play.
Bean recorded only one strikeout, but walked only two and allowed just four singles. Molly Cheshire tripled, singled and scored twice, Danielle McGinnis doubled and Stephanie Harden hit two singles. Bean hit one and scored three times.
Hampshire got two of its four hits off the bat of Jasmine Douthitt.
Mountain Ridge (9-3, 7-2 AMAC) hosts Keyser today at 4 p.m. Hampshire (7-13) is a Frankfort on Saturday.
