OAKLAND - Melodie Stolbom fired a one-hitter and Southern evened its record with a win over rival Northern.
The Rams (6-6 overall, 3-6 AMAC) took a 2-0 lead in the first inning and led 7-0 through five innings.
That was more than enough support for Stolbom, who struck out 11 and walked five in the complete-game shutout.
Shayna Sweitzer was 2-for-3, Sarah Hanlin singled and knocked in two runs, and Lindsey Glotfelty smacked an RBI double for the Rams, who had nine hits.
Danielle Brenneman broke up Stolbom's no-hit bid with a single in the sixth to account for Northern's only hit.
The Rams won the jayvee game 16-6.
Southern plays at Allegany today. Northern (0-12, 0-12) plays at Salisbury on Monday.
