Alkire, Frankfort slam Keyser, 14-0

Rachel Alkire’s second-inning grand slam spurred Frankfort to a 14-0 win over county and Appalachian Mountain Athletic Conference rival Keyser on Friday.

The Falcons took a 2-0 lead in the first inning, and on the heels of Alkire’s grand slam opened up a 9-0 lead after the second. Alkire finished the day with a triple and single.

Kristi Salonish hit three singles, Maddie Shambaugh had two and Savannah Hose added a single and three RBIs. Jackie Myers doubled for the Falcons.

Lace Shaw worked all five innings, allowed one single and struck out four.

Frankfort (13-11, 6-2 AMAC) will play at Southern on Monday. Keyser is 4-8 in the conference and will play at Musselman today in a doubleheader.
