Bishop Walsh edges Southern, 1-0

OAKLAND - Rochelle Wolford struck out nine and scattered five hits to lead Bishop Walsh over Southern Tuesday at Southern.

Anne Mathews singled for BW in the first inning and scored on a fielder's choice by Claire Nolan for the only run of the game.

Both teams had five hits in the well-pitched game as Southern's Melodie Stolbom also struck out nine hitters.

Bishop Walsh (7-9) will play today, 5 p.m., at Northern. Southern is 7-10 entering the Maryland 1A West Region tournament.
