A single-family home in the 19900 block of Woodland Road was damaged by a two-alarm fire reported by neighbors in the Klondike area Saturday night, causing officials to send six volunteer fire companies to the scene. According to a spokesman at Allegany County’s 911 Joint Communications Division, all occupants were safe and accounted for by the time emergency crews arrived at the 8:28 p.m. blaze. Volunteer firefighters from Shaft, Midland, Frostburg, Clarysville, Lonaconing and Barton responded, along with Frostburg Area Ambulance. In addition, Eastern Garrett and Bowling Green volunteer fire departments were placed on standby for Shaft firefighters. Deputy State Fire Marshal Ryan Chapman was also called to the scene to investigate and Allegheny Power and Columbia Gas also were notified of the fire. Further details were not available.
