Come-from-behind victory caps big day, extends Potomac State win streak to 12

KEYSER, W.Va. - Potomac State used home runs from Matt Schrader, Jacke Healey and Brock Stevens to rally from an 8-1 deficit en route to a 17-13 victory to complete a sweep over Delaware Tech Wednesday afternoon at Golden Park.

Potomac State, which won the first game 6-0, extended its winning streak to 12 games.

Stevens led the way for the Catamounts (12-3) with a home run, two doubles and four runs batted in. Healey picked up his sixth home run of the year and drove in two runs.

It was Schrader's two-run home run in the fourth that got Potomac State back on track.

After two quick outs in the fourth inning, Stevens laced a double and Schrader homered over the center field fence to highlight a four-run inning that cut Delaware Tech's lead to 8-5.

Potomac State sent 14 hitters to the plate in an 11-run fourth that included home runs by Healey and Stevens. Stevens drove in four runs in the inning.

Ryan Venderlic, Justin Grantham, Kyle Orensky, and Mike Smith also had hits in the big inning which ended with the Catamounts up 16-9.

"Our guys did a great job of battling back," said head coach Doug Little. "We could have easily given up. I'm proud of the guys and the way they fought back. We beat a good team today."

Matt Fryer gave Potomac State 3 1-3 innings of solid relief work allowing just two runs to pick up the win. Smith came on to get the last two Roadrunner hitters to pick up the save.

Dave Hewitt homered, doubled and drove in three runs for Delaware Tech.

In the first game, it was Chris Szafran's two-run single in the fourth inning that snapped a scoreless tie. Healey had an RBI single later in the inning.

Smith finished with a triple and single and Healey doubled and singled for Potomac State.

Jonathan Hash threw five scorless innings, allowed four hits and struck out eight to improve his record to 3-0.

Potomac State will host West Virginia Wesleyan in a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Friday, entertain Lackawanna in a 1 p.m. twinbill on Saturday, and host Hagerstown in a 1 p.m. single game on Sunday.
