Four Garrett barns display quilt patterns

OAKLAND — With four barns that display quilt squares in Garrett County, visitors can take a self-guided tour and see the two barns in Accident, one in McHenry and one in Deer Park.

A map of all four locations can be downloaded at www.garrettbarnquilts.org.

The first quilt square was placed on the barn at the Gary and Kate Fratz farm at 27599 Garrett Highway. The other Accident barn is owned by Wendell and Ruth Beitzel at 7644 Rock Lodge Road.

Greg Hinebaugh’s barn is at 5440 Sang Run Road, McHenry. The final barn on the tour is Sue Logan’s at 2515 Boiling Springs Road in Deer Park.

The map includes markers that provide directions and more information about the tour sites.

More barn quilt blocks will be mounted in the spring. Many other squares are being created and some are ready for mounting on waiting barns.
