HYNDMAN, Pa. — Homer “Dimp” M. Kennell, 86, went to be with the Lord Sunday, May 10 2009, at Devlin Manor, Cumberland, Md.

Born Aug. 29, 1922, in Kennells Mill, he was a son of the late Hobart James and Erma Edna (Lepley) Kennell. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Sarah D. (Bennett) Kennell in 1992; and a granddaughter, Jennifer Kennell; brothers, Merle and Junior Kennell.

He is survived by sons, Lynn Kennell and wife Betty of Fort Ashby, W.Va., Glenn Kennell and wife Dawn of Finksburg, Md.; daughters, Alda Altizer of Crofton, Md., Linda Rosenberger of Ellerslie, Jenny Lopez and husband Rev. Peter Lopez of Spring Hill, Fla.; brothers, Gerald Kennell of Wittenburg, Wayne Kennell of Meyersdale; sister, Helen Kennell, Meyersdale; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Kennell retired from Cumberland Cement and Supply where he was a stone crusher in the quarry. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 453 and Calvary Bible Church.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence St., Hyndman, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 10 a.m. with Pastors Stephen Abe and John Klink officiating

Burial will follow at Porter Cemetery with Russell George, Jeremy Kennell, Greg Michael, Craig Michael, Tony West and Don Jackson serving at pallbearers.
