Salisbury wins, 5-4

Second game today at 5:30 p.m.

From Staff Reports
Cumberland Times-News

CRESAPTOWN - The Salisbury American Legion scored four runs in the sixth inning, after scoring one in the fifth, to rally from a 3-0 deficit, and then a 4-1 deficit, to defeat D&D Homes, 5-4, in the first game of the best-of-three Hot Stove Baseball League Championship Series Tuesday at Hamilton Field.

A win today, 5:30 p.m., at Holler Field will seal the Hot Stove championship for the Salisbury American Legion.

D&D Homes scored two runs in the top of the first inning, and a single run in the top of the fifth to take a 3-0 lead. After Salisbury came back for a run in the bottom half of the fifth, D&D took the run back in the top of the sixth to make it 4-1.

That's when Salisbury broke out for four runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the 5-4 lead it would preserve, thanks to the work of winning pitcher Ryan Vogt, who entered the game in relief in the fourth inning.

Alex Menges knocked in two runs in the inning, while Brandon Miller hit a sacrifice fly to score Menges with another run. Ryan Miller followed with a single to produce an RBI to score Matt McKenzie.

McKenzie had three singles on the night for Salisbury, while Vogt doubled, and Cody Dice singled and doubled.

Devon Garlitz and Ryan Redinger both produced RBI singles for D&D Homes.
