Cubbage flirts with 800s

Troy Cubbage bowled the area's two top scores for the week. In the White Oak's Wednesday Night Industrial League, Cubbage scored 799/278. The following Friday night at The Bowler Troy rolled 783/277 for that center's weekly high.

White Oak's other highs include J.M. Sites' 763/268 and Mike Brobst's 751/279.

At The Bowler, Darren Durbin followed Cubbage, rolling 779/278. Israel Sibley bowled a 280 game in his 740 set and Adam Robinette posted a 298 game in his 694 set.

Clay Corbin bowled 741/279 for the high At Wilson Lanes. Bob Greene was next, rolling 728/247.

Teddy Inman rolled a pair of 700s for the high at Par-Matt Lanes. Inman's best was a 705/254. Mel Humberson followed Inman, scoring 666/267.

At Rainbow Lanes, Dudley Sinclair was highest, rolling 626/217. Rainbow has recently started an Adult/Youth League meeting on Wednesdays. Interested bowlers should call the center for more details.

At White Oak Lanes, the PBA Experience League results show Chris Eshelman's 614/220 as the top score for the week. J.M. Sites was next, rolling 586/225, followed by Derek Yates' 576/202.

The area's top lady for the week was Vicki Coughlin, who rolled a big 279 game and 703 set in the Del's Mixed League at The Bowler. Alice Monahan was next high at that center, bowling 612/242.

Michele Hitchins scored 577/216 for the week's high at White Oak Lanes. Autumn Gable was next, rolling 542/197.

Nancy Glotfelty and Tammy Mattingly were the top scoring ladies at Par-Matt Lanes, bowling 545/216 and 523/194 respectively.

Alice Monahan rolled 534/186 at Sherwood and Esther Shockey bowled 510/174 at Rainbow Lanes.

Bob Walker scored 642/238 at Rainbow Lanes for the area's senior high. Ray Foster was the top senior at The Bowler, rolling 621/258. Harold Murphy's 580/225 was the senior high at Par-Matt, and at White Oak Lanes, senior Brad Deter bowled 487/177.

Nathan Lowery was the area's top youth bowler for the week, rolling 659/241 at The Bowler. Aaron Sites bowled 642/227 at White Oaks. Andrew Judy scored 592/256 at Rainbow Lanes and Derek Bennett's 548/191 was the youth high at Par-Matt Lanes.

Next weekend will be the final days of the local USBC Association's annual tournament. The Bowler is the host center and has produced high scoring by several bowlers.

Mike Scroggins won another PBA tour event, defeating Walter Ray Williams Jr. in the finals of the 2008 Pepsi Championship in Omaha, Neb., 214-191. Walter Ray missed a 10-pin in the first frame and had trouble carrying the 10-pin during the match. The first match had Pete Weber defeating Billy Oatman, 211-203. Rhino Page then defeated Weber, 236-231. Walter Ray then defeated Page, 236-224, to face top seed Mike Scroggins.

Next week, the tour will be in Indianapolis for the Denny's World Championship. ESPN will start its television coverage at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday.
