John Rowe bowls Sherwood’s first perfect game of this new bowling season, scoring 708/300.

The area’s top bowler for the week was Troy Smith, who scored a big 289 game and 791 set (needed that 11th strike for an 800). Chad Gable was next at that center rolling 757/266. Gable also rolled a 741 set as did A.J. Bishop. Six other bowlers scored 700’s as well.

Bob Greene was Wilson’s top bowler scoring 772/289 (another nice run of strikes). Clay Corbin followed rolling 747/279. Andy Howard scored a 278 game in his 706 set.

John Leptic Jr. had Sherwood’s highest score, bowling 757/257. Rowe’s 708/300 was next, followed by Jeremiah Howsare with 695/278.

Scott Brant was the leader at The Bowler scoring 706/255. Buck Lease’s 692/263 was next, then Travis Walter’s 686/254.

At Rainbow Lanes, Russ Ratcliffe bowled 665/257 for the week’s high. Joe Shoemaker was next rolling 659/235.

In the PBA Experience League at White Oaks, Chad Gable was at the top of the scoring list rolling 669/237. Mike Brobst and Doug Otto were next bowling 667/227 and 612/213 respectively. Derek Yates rolled the highest game, a 258.

Dawn House was the area’s top lady bowler for the week (again) scoring 606/229 at The Bowler. Toni Myers was next high rolling 556/223. Jean Marco a pin back scoring a 555 set.

Sandy Smith bowled 582/233 for the top ladies score at Wilson Lanes. Julie Greene was next high rolling 525/181.

Sally Suter was the top lady at Rainbow scoring 555/212. Katie Pownell followed scoring 551/192.

Autumn Gable was highest of the White Oak ladies bowling 545/193. Samantha King followed scoring 536/200.

Pam Braskey and Alice Monahan were the leaders of the Sherwood ladies. Braskey bowled 522/194 and Monahan rolled 519/191.

Don Bower was the area’s senior leader for the week rolling 664/246 at The Bowler. Paul Williams scored 606/237 also at The Bowler. Senior Clyde Norris rolled 489/177 at White Oak Lanes.

Mike Hendrickson was the top youth bowler for the week scoring 593/212 at The Bowler. Justin Boyer bowled 587/236 at Wilson Lanes. Michael Bane scored 583/213 at Rainbow and Scottie Brown rolled 567/213 at White Oak Lanes.

Scoring in most centers seems to be increasing as the season advances. The reason most likely is that bowlers who took the summer off are getting back to their normal form. Many still have problems with spare shooting and practice on that feature alone should be their main focus.

The weather also has a significant effect on scoring. The hot and cold temperature changes and the heating systems in the various centers cause changes in how the lanes dry out. These variations are hard to predict and the only answer is to learn to adjust based on your ball reaction. It is also helpful to watch the other bowlers, especially if they are bowling a line closer to your line. This may help you determine how quickly the lanes break down and help you make a move before you throw one too high and leave a big split. Good luck bowling and have fun striking out!
