Fatkin, Greene roll 300s

— Ron Fatkin rolled the first 300 of the 2010-11 bowling season. He scored the perfect game on the first match of the County League’s start. He also told me that his bowling has gone down hill after that start.

Bob Greene continues his streak of 700s and added a perfect game to the list bowled in the Thursday Night Trio League.

Craig Davis bowled the area’s top score of the week, posting 786/260 at Wilson Lanes. Greene’s 772/300 was next high.

From The Bowler the last two week’s results are combined, but future reports will be current week’s results. Corey Shirey was the name on the top of their list of scoring. Shirey’s 752/267 was followed by Shewbridge’s 729/268 and Pryor’s 726/268.

Chad Gable bowled 745/265 for the week’s high at White Oaks. Jeremiah Howsare was next, rolling 720/259. Gable also rolled 715/248.

Drew Miller was highest at Rainbow Lanes, scoring 738/269. Tim Chapman was next, rolling 719/266. Scott Meyers, a couple of pins back, bowled 716/276.

Butch Young bowled 726/266 to lead the scoring at Sherwood Lanes. Ralph Knieriem followed, rolling 707/278. Randy Kirby bowled a big 290 game in the Frostburg City League.

Michele Hitchens was the area’s top lady bowler for the week, rolling 625/221. Lois Natolly was next high, scoring 580/235.

At Wilson Lanes, Pat Gwizdale bowled 622/241 as that center’s top lady. Cheri Ward was next, rolling 531/193; Julie Greene was next with 530/188.

Robin Cosner was the top lady at The Bowler, bowling 600/224. Dawn House was next, scoring 581/236.

Lou Dille bowled 595/246 and Katie Pownell rolled 572/258 and were the top ladies at Rainbow Lanes.

Alice Monahan bowled 497/200 at Sherwood, followed by Anna Durst, scoring 482/212.

Senior Ray Foster bowled 653/244 and was the area’s top senior bowler for the week. Darrell Boatman rolled 617/213, also at The Bowler. Brad Deter rolled 581/222 at White Oak Lanes.

In Youth bowling, Matt Riley scored 608/220 in The Bowler’s Saturday Youth Strikers League. Rainbow’s Michael Bane bowled 603/237. Wes Weems was the top youth at White Oaks and rolled 565/194. Dylan Pepper bowled 555/197 at Wilson Lanes.

Although membership locally and nationally has declined, scores are increasing. The reason? Probably more consistent lane conditions and centers putting down oil patterns that are high scoring. Open bowling seems to be increasing but most of those bowlers are skeptical of league bowling. It is a significant commitment but I’m sure you can find a league that you would enjoy. Talk to your friends — it is great therapy for these trying times.

Good luck bowling and have fun striking out!
