Corbin, Helminiak perfect

Two more local area bowlers were added to the growing perfect-game list for the 2009-2010 bowling season. Clay Corbin bowled 784/300 at Wilson Lanes in the Thursday Men’s Doubles League. Corbin’s 784 was also the area’s top score for the week.

Jim Helminiak bowled 714/300 in White Oaks’ Wednesday Night Industrial League and it was his first 300.

Brett Stenberg bowled 759/278 and followed Corbin’s top score at Wilson Lanes.

Jeremiah Howsare and Rob Shroyer were the top scoring bowlers at White Oaks for the week, rolling 763/268 and 761/275 respectively.

Allen Johnson was highest for the week at The Bowler, scoring 754/269. Keefe Kaylor was next high, bowling 752/258.

Robbie Knieriem scored 738/255 for the high at Sherwood Lanes. Ralph Knieriem was next high at that center, rolling 716/265.

At Rainbow Lanes Bill Smith III was on top of their scoring list, posting 695/257. Steve Capaldi was a pin back, bowling 694/259.

In the PBA Experience League at White Oaks, Chad Gable was highest, rolling 661/245. Joe Mullenax and Mike Brobst were next. Mullenax scored 639/239 and Brobst bowled 634/234.

Michele Hitchens was the area’s top lady bowler for the week, scoring 607/209 at White Oak Lanes. Lois Natolly followed, rolling 569/206.

Crystal Uhl was the top lady at The Bowler, scoring 603/236. Vicki Coughlin was next high, rolling 595/224.

At Wilson Lanes, Vicki DeSantis bowled 597/235 for that center’s high for the ladies. Sandy Smith was next high, rolling 576/193.

Alice Monahan rolled 553/210 at Sherwood followed by Kay Beachy’s 499/175.

Katie Pownell’s 549/202 and Lou Dille’s 549/195 were the ladies’ high at Rainbow Lanes.

Stan Teets bowled 633/250 at The Bowler for the area’s top senior score. Brad Deter rolled 556/192 at White Oaks.

Tanner Smith rolled 690/258 at White Oaks and was the area’s top youth bowler for the week. Justin Boyer bowled 675/247 at Wilson Lanes and Matt Riley rolled 634/255 at The Bowler. Charles Abernathy bowled 593/215 at Rainbow Lanes.

Spare shooting is still the number-one problem for most bowlers in the area. Practice on that area of your game will get you the most increase in your average. Set a first goal of allowing yourself only one open per game. Concentrate on making a good shot rather than worrying about the fact that you didn’t strike. Your next goal should then be only one open per three-game set.

Spare practice is also in order for the area’s youth bowlers. The Youth All-Star tournament is scheduled for April 18 at The Bowler.

Good luck bowling and have fun striking out!
