Veterans Rally planned in Frostburg on Memorial Day

FROSTBURG — The Veterans Rally to be held on Memorial Day in Frostburg is starting to take shape.

Seating will begin Monday at 4 p.m. in the parking area behind the Main Street Hangar. Veterans will have an hour to mingle and the business will hold a happy hour.

As veterans enter the event, they will register for a door prize of 50 gallons of gas donated by Kwik and EZ.

A roll call of veterans will take place, with each veteran to give name, rank and time spent in service with a brief interesting fact.

World War II veteran and Frostburg resident Al Via is planning the event. Anyone who is available as a speaker, entertainer or volunteer is asked to contact him at (301) 689-6749.

Food and beverages will be served to the guests, who will be shown the DVD of the Frostburg 1000 Veterans March held in 2006.

The Jacobs families, who operate Main Street Hangar, are also involved in planning the veterans social gathering.
