Barton election uncontested

BARTON - Grant Glotfelty, finance commissioner, and James Duncan III, police commissioner, both were re-elected to the Barton Town Council in Monday's election, according to Sherry Shaw, town clerk.

Both candidates ran unopposed, according to Shaw. They will serve two-year terms.

The mayor's seat plus two other council positions will be up for election in June 2007.

Town government is currently composed of Mayor Jack F. Bean Sr., Street Commissioner Clarence Kimble and Parks and Recreation Commissioner Frank Stowell.

Frostburg voters head to polls today

FROSTBURG - The Frostburg city election will be held today with polls open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Frostburg Community Center on South Water Street.

Advisory committee meets today

CUMBERLAND - The Allegany County Special Education Advisory Committee will meet today in Room CE 20 at the Allegany College Continuing Education Building.

Refreshments will be served at 2 p.m. and the meeting will begin at 2:30 p.m.

Potomac Edison retirees to meet

LAVALE - The Potomac Edison retirees will meet today at 8:30 a.m. at the Ponderosa, LaVale.

PPG retirees meet Wednesday

LAVALE - PPG Industries, Maintenance Department Retirees, will hold a breakfast meeting Wednesday at 9 a.m. at the Ponderosa Restaurant, Winchester Road, LaVale.

The breakfast is open to all PPG hourly and salaried retirees, spouses and guests.
