CUMBERLAND — Jeanne Marie (Lippold) Crum, 79, of Cumberland, died Friday, June 16, 2006, at her residence.

Born May 23, 1927, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Louis W. Lippold and Catherine M. (Schellhaus) Lippold. She was also preceded in death by her brother, William L. Lippold; and a sister, Elizabeth A. Chaney.

Jeanne graduated from the Ursuline Academy in 1944. She attended St. Joseph’s College in Emmitsburg for one year. She completed her degree in elementary education at Frostburg State Teachers’ College.

Jeanne taught sixth grade at Johnson Heights Elementary School for many years.

She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ursuline Associates, Daughters of Charity, Cresap Chapter D.A.R. and past president of the Jr. Women’s Civic Club. She was the Western Maryland correspondent for the Baltimore Catholic Review for several years.

Jeanne married Arthur Charles Crum on June 25, 1955. They were married for 50 years.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Martina Martin and husband Hal, Scottsdale, Ariz., Arthur C. Crum Jr. and wife Mary K., Frederick, and Edward L. Crum and wife Monika, Myersville; a sister, M. Louise Crum, Cumberland; grandchildren, Theresa, Eric, Claire and Bryan Martin, and Artie, Sarah and Matthew Crum; and Monika’s daughters, Indre and Vaida.

Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Rosary will be recited at the funeral home on Monday at 8:30 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. James Kurtz, O.F.M., Cap., as celebrant.

Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

In appreciation for the kind, compassionate care the home hospice workers provided, Jeanne would like for memorials to be made to the WMHS Home Hospice, c/o Linda Green, 900 Seton Drive, Cumberland, MD 21502.
