CUMBERLAND — A 47-year-old Cumberland man was arrested late Friday for an alleged incident that sent a West Second Street resident to the hospital with stab wounds.
Cumberland Police charged Phat Hue Chung with attempted second-degree murder and first- and second-degree assault in connection with the incident that happened about 11:35 p.m. at a residence in the 100 block of West Second.
Police said Chung and the male victim, who lived together, were involved in an argument and Chung retrieved a knife and stabbed the victim in the chest and hand.
A witness reportedly intervened and was able to keep Chung from fully penetrating the knife into the victim and was able to get him to drop the weapon, according to a police report.
The victim was taken by a Cumberland Fire Department ambulance to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center for treatment. His condition was not available.
Chung was being held on $100,000 bond at the Allegany County Detention Center following a District Court bond hearing.
