Oldtown Road business target of armed robbery

Suspect used knife to threaten store clerk

— CUMBERLAND — A masked suspect armed with a knife robbed an East Oldtown Road convenience store early Thursday eve-ning. No one was injured.

Cumberland Police re-sponded to the 7:19 p.m. incident at the Circle K store that took place when a white male suspect entered the store, displayed the knife and demanded money from the cash drawer.

After receiving an unknown amount of money, the suspect left the store in the 900 block of East Oldtown Road and was last seen on foot in that area.

Maryland State Police medevac helicopter and K-9 units were unable to locate the suspect, who was described as being approximately 6 feet, 3 inches tall, of thin build and wearing a ski mask, gloves, light-colored sweatshirt and jeans.

Investigators with the C3I Unit also responded and the crime scene was processed by a state police evidence collection specialist.

The Allegany County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the interviews of employees and several witnesses.

Cumberland Police and the C3I Unit are continuing to investigate the robbery. Surveillance video is being reviewed as part of the investigation.
