Animal shelter seeks dog's owners

OLDTOWN — Dianne Care at the Ark of Hope Rescue hopes to find the owner of a dog named DiNozzo that was dropped off at her home sometime Wednesday.

“Does anyone recognize this poor pup? He was ‘dumped’ off at The Ark of Hope Animal Rescue. We came home Wednesday evening after a doctor’s appointment to find this horribly emaciated, virtually hairless, intact male dog,” Care posted on the rescue’s Facebook page.

“He is very sick; we need to find his owners, ASAP! Please, if you know who this poor boy is, a neighbor’s dog, a friend’s dog maybe even someone in your family. If they don’t want to come forward … we would really appreciate knowing what vet he has been at so we can start someplace in getting this guy some help!”

The owners left a note that DiNozzo, a boxer/collie mix, has an allergy, but did not leave any other medical information. The note said the owner could no longer afford to care for the dog.

Care can be contacted at 301-478-3300.

She has taken DiNozzo for veterinary care and will post updates on his condition on Facebook.

Donations to help with vet bills and special food can be mailed to The Ark of Hope Animal Rescue, 13400 Arctic Ridge Lane, Oldtown, MD 21555 or go to www.arkofhoperescue.org and click on the “Donate Here” button. Donations are tax-deductible.

Ark of Hope will also have a booth under the grandstands at the Allegany County Fair to be open from 3 to 10 p.m. July 13 through 20.
