CUMBERLAND — A Cumberland man who was already wanted on assault charges was jailed without bond Monday when he was identified as a suspect in an armed robbery that took place that morning.
Cumberland Police responded to the Canal Parkway area at 11:41 a.m. for the robbery complaint. The victim told police that he was approached by Jordan Shook, 27, while walking on Virginia Avenue. Shook allegedly held a knife to the victim’s ear, demanded money and then reached into the victim’s pants pocket and removed the cash. The victim broke free and waved down a passing motorist who then drove him away from the area. He did not require medical attention.
Police located Shook a short time later in a vehicle traveling on Central Avenue. A knife was located in the vehicle as well.
Shook was charged with armed robbery, robbery, two counts of assault, reckless endangerment and theft for Monday’s incident. He was also served with a criminal summons for assault and trespassing for an incident that occurred July 12 in an apartment complex on West Oldtown Road. Police had observed minor injuries on a female victim then and the Cumberland Housing Authority had previously banned Shook from the property.
