CUMBERLAND — A midafternoon traffic stop Tuesday for a loud and faulty exhaust system led to the arrest of two men and discovery of heroin with a street value of $2,300, according to the Cumberland Police Department.
The stop was made on Park Street at about 2:17 p.m
Kevin Eugene Pratt Jr., 28, of Romney, W. Va., was found in possession of a hypodermic syringe in his jacket and a metal spoon with burnt heroin residue was under his seat. Another needle was discovered as he got out of the vehicle.
Jeremy Travis Whetzel, 23, city, was found in possession of a syringe and a bag of 77 large capsules of heroin that Whetzel had hidden in his buttocks area.
Pratt was released on his personal recognizance.
Whetzel remained jailed Wednesday on $7,500 bond set by a district court commissioner, pending bail review in district court.
