— CUMBERLAND — A Boone Street resident who was awakened Wednesday by a loud banging noise was then struck in the forehead by an intruder who fled seconds later with a safe from the residence.

Cumberland Police investigated the 7 a.m. incident in which the victim declined medical treatment.

Police are looking for a 6-foot, 3-inch tall suspect who was clean shaven and wearing dark shirt and pants and a black toboggan.

The suspect forced open a rear door to enter the residence in the first block of Boone Street, police said.
