Suspect allegedly punched, choked woman, tried to stab her with screwdriver

— BREEZWOOD, Pa. — A man was being held in the Bedford County Jail on $40,000 bond after he allegedly attacked a woman in a Breezewood motel room.

Pennsylvania State Police at Bedford reported that Eugene Brandt Sharp, over a period of time from noon Tuesday through 6:24 p.m. Thursday, punched and choked the victim until she nearly lost consciousness. Police said he also attempted to stab her approximately 10 times with a screwdriver.

Sharp was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, terrorist threats and harassment.

The suspect’s age, town of residence and other details of the incident were not included in the police report, and Trooper Matthew Terkay, the investigating officer, was not on duty when the barrack was contacted early Friday evening for additional information.
