Fire damages Short Gap home

SHORT GAP, W.VA. — Firefighters battled a house fire Sunday afternoon in the Windover Hills subdivison off of state Route 28.

First-arriving Short Gap crews reported heavy smoke coming from the two-story structure on Woodsedge Drive and requested a second alarm due to a malfunctioning hydrant.

Fire officials reported the blaze under control in about 25 minutes.

In addition to Short Gap, fire crews from Fort Ashby, Wiley Ford, Ridgeley, Patterson Creek, Cresaptown and Fountain responded to the blaze that was reported to the Mineral County 911 Center about 3:50 p.m. There were no reported injuries.
