— SHORT GAP, W.Va. — A man armed with a knife reportedly robbed the First Peoples Federal Credit Union branch on state Route 28 at about 10:15 a.m. Friday.

No injuries were reported in the incident that brought state and county units to the bank location in the Furnace Acres area along with Maryland State Police medevac helicopter and a Maryland State Police patrol unit.

A Mineral County Sheriff’s Department K-9 reportedly tracked the suspect from the bank parking lot to some nearby apartments and into a wooded area.

Preliminary information in police radio broadcasts indicated the suspect was a heavy-set white man wearing camouflage pants, a long-sleeve green shirt with white lettering, a gray hoodie pulled tightly around his face and sunglasses.

The incident also reportedly prompted the lockdown of Frankfort Middle School and Frankfort High School.
