Woman to serve 10-years for Tri-Towns Pharmacy robbery

— CUMBERLAND — A Westernport woman was sentenced recently to serve a 10-year prison term in connection with the August pepper-spray robbery of the Tri-Towns Pharmacy in Westernport.

Sandra S. Duckworth, 28, of Westernport, was sentenced in Allegany County Circuit Court by Judge Gary Leasure to 10 years in the Maryland Division of Correction for the robbery of the Tri-Towns Pharmacy in Westernport on Aug. 13, according to the Office of State’s Attorney Michael Twigg. Duckworth was sentenced to an additional four years suspended with two years supervised probation upon her release from prison.

Duckworth entered the pharmacy on the evening of Aug. 13 and sprayed pepper spray on the employees in order to take various prescription pills.

She was apprehended shortly afterwards by law enforcement and was found to be in possession of the stolen prescription pills.

The case was prosecuted by Twigg. Michael Stankan from the Public Defender’s Office represented the defendant.
