Allegany County residents pledge to help stop domestic violence and sexual assault

CUMBERLAND — Men from all walks of life in Allegany County are observing Father’s Day this year by signing a pledge to contribute to the end of domestic violence and sexual assault.

The Family Crisis Resource Center is providing the 2013 Father’s Day Pledge so that men can honor their legacy as loving husbands and partners and proud fathers, brothers, uncles, friends and mentors.

The center wants to recognize all men in the community who do not commit acts of violence or acts of sexual violence against their loved ones.

Men who have already made the pledge include Paul Bernhardt, Skott Brill, Jeffrey Buser, Andy Duncan, Tom Finan, Robert Flanigan, Joe Hoffman, Mark Kaiser, Rusty Kitzmiller, Michael Linck, County Commissioner Michael McKay, Seth Miller, John Morley, Ryan Mullaney, Michael Murtagh, John O’Rorke, Keith Potts, Shannon Redman, Chris Rosen, Garrett Saville, Doug Schwab, Tim Stevens and Jack Zealand.

As a provider of human services to support healthy families, FCRC is grateful to have the support of men, especially fathers. Being a parent is a rewarding and challenging experience. FCRC honors local fathers and asks that they help the fathers who don’t realize and don’t understand what family and true fatherhood is — a gift — by taking part in this pledge.

To take a stand against violence and publicly show what Allegany County men are about, residents may email fcrc@allconet.org the following sentence with their name inserted: I, (insert name), publicly pledge to stand against violence in my community and home. FCRC has permission to display my name for the purpose of this pledge in news sources, on FCRC’s website, in newsletters, and any event in which FCRC participates.
