Ex officio bill on way to governor

CUMBERLAND — A bill that would abolish ex officio seats for county commissioners on the Allegany and Garrett County boards of education passed the Senate by a 47-0 vote Wednesday morning and is now set to come before Gov. Martin O'Malley for his signature.

The bill originated in the House of Delegates and moved to the Senate after passage in the House. Sen. George Edwards sponsored the senate bil. Members of the Allegany County delegation sponsored the House bill.
