— KEYSER, W. Va. — One Keyser man was killed and a second man taken to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center following a single-vehicle crash Sunday evening on Patterson Creek Road, three-tenths of a mile from Route 46, according to West Virginia State Police.

Curtis M. Thompson, 23, of Knobley Road, Keyser, died of injuries in the 7:10 p.m. crash, according to Trooper A. R. Hanlon, who is continuing to investigate the accident.

George M. Rohrbaugh Jr., 22, of Keyser, was taken to the hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries. No information was available concerning his injuries.

Police said Rohrbaugh was operating a 2005 Chevy Silverado 2500 truck, with Thompson as a passenger, when the vehicle traveled out of control off the roadway and struck a tree.

The Mineral County 911 center said volunteer first-responders from Fountain, Fort Ashby, Short Gap and New Creek responded to the scene along with the Hardy County Medical Examiner’s Office.
