Post 13 sweeps Potomac Valley

MOOREFIELD, W.Va. — Chris Stein pitched a five-hit shutout in the opener, and Chris Wilson allowed only four hits in the nightcap as Fort Cumberland Post 13 scored a 8-0 and 13-3 sweep over host Potomac Valley Post 64 in American Legion baseball on Thursday at Moorefield High School.

Sean Collette hit a run-scoring double, while Jeff Conley, Cody Ellsworth and Scott Rice had two singles each to lead Cumberland’s 10-hit attack in the first game. Rice drove in two runs. Stein allowed five singles and had five strikeouts.

Steven See singled twice for Potomac Valley.

In the second game, Forhest Crass cracked a inside-the-park grand slam home run for Post 13. Zac Hare drove in three runs with a double and a single, while Collette and Rice ripped two singles each. Rice had a pair of RBIs.

Ethan Reynolds doubled for Post 64.

Fort Cumberland Post 13 (14-7-1) will host Grantsville Post 214 on Saturday for a doubleheader at noon.
