Writer wants to know about life near power plant

This letter is regarding the Warrior Run power plant and many things that are being said here in Central Utah about your area and the plant many of you live by.

Approximately eight years ago, Nevco Energy proposed a 270 MW power plant similar to your Warrior Run plant to be built here in Sevier County Utah. It will use very similar technology to Warrior Run. Nevco is still in the approval phase with Sevier County officials and has a steady following of people that oppose their plan.

Over the past couple of years, many things have been said here in our area regarding Warrior Run and the area of Cumberland, Md., such as the following:

1. Cumberland has the second highest death rate in the nation due to power plant emissions. 36 deaths per 100,000 population.

2. Cumberland has a higher than normal number of respiratory illnesses and extraordinarily high number of hospital visits.

3. Low economic growth in Cumberland due to the power plant.

4. Loss of population from outward migration since Warrior Run was put into operation.

I'm quite sure that some good and some bad has come with a power plant operating in a populated area. I would like to hear from people about their experiences living in Cumberland, especially if you have experience before and after Warrior Run. I'd love to hear about things such as quality of life, health issues, business, living near the plant, etc.
