Americans not buying ‘tooth fairy magic’
To the Editor:
Cumberland Times-News
In the Sept. 25 editorial by Craig Etchison, titled “Deal with facts, not propaganda,” it is Mr. Etchison who is doling out propaganda. Experts on propaganda, from Goebbels to Lenin, say to spew unrelated facts that don’t prove your point, state that the point is made and move on to other propaganda points. This requirement is met in the aforementioned editorial.
If related points to the “facts” are made I’ll refute them in a future response. But let’s look at some of the statements made by the writer. “Let’s not confuse facts with Fox News propaganda.” The writer’s opinion that Fox News reports are propaganda is without merit. Fox News is a response to the quantified reality that “Mainstream Media” (ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, NPR, as well as national newspapers such as the N.Y. Times and Washington Post), have been proven biased countless times in a multitude of research. Perhaps, the writer is confusing commentators with reporters. The difference at Fox is that the commentators are upfront. Our liberal media pretend they are journalists while slanting their reporting to support their radical leftist views.
“The American health care system is broken.” Our system is far from perfect, but it is the superior health system in the world. People needing unique care often come to the U.S. to utilize this superior care. While people in Europe and Canada wait for priority treatments and die before being treated, people in the U.S. are treated relatively quickly. Over 80 percent of Americans like the coverage they have and they aren’t going to sit by idly as we ruin our health care system. Of course, Obama didn’t actually produce a plan, he let radical San Francisco Leftist Nancy Pelosi write the bill.
“ ... No mention of ... free health care for illegal immigrants.” This is an outright lie by Obama. He has clearly linked “legalizing” illegal immigrants into having free health care. What he has stated is that he wants to give amnesty and thus magically make illegal immigrants into legal immigrants. This is what Joe Wilson was commenting on during Obama’s speech before Congress. Indeed it is a lie, a sham, a manipulation of reality. Wilson’s “You lie!” was absolutely a truth.
Well, the American people are a charitable group of people, but we cannot afford to put untold millions onto the public dole. But Obama is perfectly willing to tax the middle class to put them on the rolls. Pointedly, the liberal Democrats were given two chances to vote on an amendment that would state clearly that they would not provide free care to illegals. They voted no! Twice. “ ... Death panels is just…a blatant lie.” Ah yes, we refer here to Sarah Palin’s comment about a federal panel to decide what is “proper” care for all people. Palin was spot on with her rhetorical flourish. If a panel of government workers concerned about cutting costs to provide free health care to the uninsured, make decisions on who gets care and what type of care, it is in fact, making life and death decisions.
The American people do not wish to have government workers make life and death decisions for them. That is the sacred and personal decision to be made by individuals and family members with consultation with their own doctors. Please note that the Democrats expunged the “death panel” provision from the bill after Palin helped to shine light on this despicable plan. Thank you Sarah Palin; and no, I do not trust liberal politicians to keep this provision out of the bill.
The American people aren’t buying the tooth fairy magic of this scheme.
