Don’t park in handicapped spaces unless authorized

To the Editor:

I went to Wal-Mart the other day. I have a handicapped van with the ramp on the passenger side. I looked around for a parking space and there were none. I parked at the very end of the row near the access road so I could open the ramp without someone parking next to me.

I noticed there were 15 cars parked in the hatch-marked spaces! One was from Pennsylvania, two from West Virginia and the rest from Maryland, and only one had handicap tags.

Now no one is to park in the hatch-marked spaces! Even cars with handicap tags or plates are not permitted to park in hatch-marked spaces. They are there for a reason. One main reason is for people like me to park, where I can deploy my ramp, avoiding another car. There were plenty of spaces in the middle of the row and further down the rows. I guess even non-handicapped people can’t walk a few steps to enter the store.

I know I’d appreciate some courtesy and consideration of others when parking. Please don’t park in a handicapped space unless you have the proper tag or plate. And please don’t park in hatch-marked spaces.
