Anglican Church presents an alternative to ongoing turmoil

To the Editor:
Cumberland Times-News

As an Anglican deaconess I am grateful for the Vatican’s pastoral response to the fracture of the Anglican Communion caused by some Anglican leaders who have abandoned historic Christian teaching and discipline. (“Vatican decision will make it easier for Anglicans to switch”)

This announcement comes after years of discussions with some Anglo-Catholics who have looked to Rome for refuge from the ongoing turmoil in the Anglican Communion.

Anglo-Catholics who want to remain Anglicans have joined evangelicals and charismatics in the Anglican Church in North America. This past June the ACNA held its inaugural assembly and adopted a provincial constitution and canons.

Formed by a coalition of former Episcopal Church dioceses and parishes, the Anglican Network in Canada, Forward in Faith North America and the Reformed Episcopal Church, the ACNA offers a united and faithful future to Anglicans in the U.S. and Canada who remain true to Holy Scripture and stand firm in the faith once delivered for all.

Anglican leaders representing a considerable majority of Anglicans from around the world have welcomed and support the Anglican Church in North America.

The Anglican Fellowship of St. Paul the Apostle is a mission outreach of the Diocese of the Holy Cross, ACNA, to Cumberland and surrounding communities.

Priest-in-Charge, the Rev. Scott Wilson, MMin, uses the 1928 Book of Common Prayer for the 10 a.m. Sunday Eucharist and Evening Prayer at 5 p.m. Sunday evenings; Rite I of the 1979 Book of Common Prayer may also be used. Services are held in our Cumberland home until a more appropriate place of worship can be found.

Anglicans seeking a spiritual home or in need of pastoral care are encouraged to call (301) 338-2818 or send e-mail to nora@deaconess.net.

In His love and service,

Dss Nora Wilson
